Former Legion players honored for military service

Special thanks to everybody involved in last night’s military appreciation ceremony recognizing two former American Legion Baseball players from Anchorage who are now with the Alaska National Guard.

Hometown heroes Yerarmy Aristy Valdez and Michael Perez were the guests of honor.

As teenagers they played for different baseball teams – Aristy Valdez for East Legion Post 34 and Perez for Service Legion Post 28.

They have since joined forces with the Guard.

Now age 23, they have each earned the rank of sergeant and are both targeted for active duty.

Both soldiers were presented plaques in appreciation of their integrity, commitment and courage; everything American Legion Baseball represents.

We salute service.
