Too much pitching and too much hitting proved too much to overcome for Service Post 28 during a 16-2 loss to tournament host North Willamette Valley in Eugene, Oregon.

Day 1 of the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament was not kind to the Cougars, who made six errors and got outhit 12-3.

Three Oregon pitchers combined to strike out 10 batters.

Service's Cooper Bailey-Parsons went 2-for-4 and Raleigh Pigg and Chris Maladogi each reached base three times.

Ronan Klancher and Antonio Perez scores runs for the Alaska state runner-up, which fell to 22-10 on the summer.

Service will face Bitterroot, Montana, in an elimination game Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ADT.

Alaska teams have won five times at the NWCART since 2013.
