BP Invitational

Game 1 Chugiak 3, South 2

DJ Davis drove in the winning run with two outs as Post 33 walkoff in extra innings over Post 4 on the first day of the BP Invitational at Mulcahy Stadium.

Davis looped an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Trystan Costanios from second base. His base hit capped a 10-pitch at-bat against South pitcher Jimmy McGovern.

Davis came to the plate with runners at first and second, but McGovern picked off a runner at third base for the second out.

The game was a pitcher’s duel with Chugiak starter Braden Shackleford carrying a shutout into the sixth inning. He was relieved by Sam Hall, who threw 2.1 innings of shutout relief.

Costanios gave Chugiak a 2-0 lead with a two-out, two-run single in third inning.

South's Austin DeLesline, the No. 8 hitter, crushed a two-run, two-out double to deep right centerfield to tie the game at 2-2.
